DENTAL IMPLANTS

Replacing one or more teeth with dental implants are great solution for people with missing or broken down teeth.

Can Porcelain Veneers Improve Your Smile?

Porcelain veneers can drastically improve your smile by fixing stained or discolored teeth, gaps between front teeth, chipped teeth, jagged edges on front teeth, worn or crooked teeth, and teeth that are disproportionate in size to the rest of your mouth.

Dental veneers are a thin shell of porcelain that is bonded directly to the front of teeth to change the tooth’scolor, size, and/or shape. Each veneer is carefully crafted to fit your individual smile and natural teeth color. They are virtually undetectable, durable and long-lasting when compared to other cosmetic treatments.

Veneers are not appropriate for teeth with excessive decay. In such cases, porcelain crowns are the best solution.
Orthodontic treatment is also the best treatment solution for certain cases of teeth alignment.

Why Choose Dental Implants

Replacing one or more teeth with dental implants are great
solution for people with missing or broken down teeth.

At her Pacific Palisades office, Dr. Emma and her team use
advanced technology and techniques in implant dentistry to
make your tooth implant look and feel so natural that it will
seem to you and others like your natural tooth. With the
dental implants skillfully placed by Dr. Emma, you’ll be able
to eat comfortably and smile confidently.

Unlike dentures or dental bridges, dental implants are
anchored in the jawbone and given time to fuse itself to your
jaw. An artificial tooth, or custom-fitted crown, is then
fitted over the implanted anchor. Skillfully placed by Dr.
Emma, implants allow for a natural, undetectable replacement
for several teeth or a full set of dentures. This greatly
improves your chewing ability, restores your natural smile,
and provides a permanent solution.

Dental implants are also a great solution because they never
decay. This means you’ll never need a root canal for the teeth
you’re restoring. Dental implants also preserve your existing
jawbone and gum tissue, and they prevent bone loss so that
your facial contours are preserved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • A root canal treatment is used to remove infected or dead nerve tissue from inside a tooth.
Root canal treatment, also known as an endodentic treatment, is designed to correct problems of the dental pulp, which is the soft tissue inside a tooth that contains nerves and blood vessels. When the pulp becomes infected from decay or injury to the tooth, the pulp must be removed to prevent the infection from spreading. To do this, a small hole is drilled into the tooth to remove the pulp. The hole is then thoroughly cleaned, filled and sealed to prevent any infection from spreading. The final step is the placement of a crown over the tooth to get it additional strength and to cosmetically match the rest of your teeth.
  • Dental crowns are one best ways to restore the functionality and appearance of a significantly damaged tooth.
When a tooth is damaged by extreme decay or stress, a crown is placed on top of the tooth to protect and strengthen the remaining tooth structure. The crown effectively becomes the new surface of the tooth, and Dr. Emma Kim expertly bonds the crown to fit and restore your natural smile. Dental crowns are often used to provide structural support after a root canal or to restore a cracked tooth. When performed by a skilled dentist, crowns are a long lasting and reliable solution to replacing missing teeth to restore your natural smile and bite.
  • Dr. Emma offers composite-fillings that are a safer and better alternative than silver fillings made of amalgam/mercury.
A cavity is essentially tooth decay that has led to holes in the enamel and dentin, the two hard layers that protect the soft tissue in your tooth. While cavities are not a serious dental problem, they are one of the most commonly ignored problems that can lead to serious issues. For example, as cavities weaken the tooth, continuous pressure can cause your tooth to crack and lead to extreme pain. Cavities also may allow food and bacteria to enter the soft tissues in your tooth, leading to painful abscesses and infections that can weakened and recede your gum line.
  • Professional cleanings and regular dental examinations are important measures to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
During a professional cleaning, plaque — which sticks to the teeth and causes tooth decay and gum disease — is removed. Stains are also removed and your teeth are polished. Dental examinations also help to identify problems, especially before they become larger problems and expensive to repair. Dental exams include examination of tooth decay, gum disease evaluation, oral cancer screenings, and diagnostic x-rays to detect problems that can’t be seen by the naked eye (e.g. cysts, tumors, invisible decay).
  • How do x-rays help?
Dental x-rays allow Dr. Emma to see things about your oral health that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Examples include cysts (sacks of fluid that form on the roots of teeth), cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, invisible decay that occurs between teeth, and the location of teeth that haven’t grown all the way in. By using an x-ray to diagnose these problems, we can help save you money in the long run from surgeries or other treatments that might become necessary if we didn’t find the problem. In some cases, where dental x-rays show the location of tumorous growths, x-rays can be responsible for saving your life.
